Description: Lowermost mantle flow along the edge of the African Superplume: What can shear wave splitting analysis tell us?
About the speaker:
Ford's research interests lie in understanding the properties, structure and dynamics of the Earth’s interior through the use of seismic imaging and complimenting her results with observations and modeling from other geophysical constraints, geochemistry and mineral physics. Much of her time at Yale has been spent trying to understand the dynamics of the lowermost mantle in the vicinity of the African Superplume, using shear wave splitting analysis and modeling these results.
