James Hu

James is a rising third-year environmental-science major at UChicago who hails from London, England, and Sichuan, China. For the past year, he’s been working on a RDCEP data-visualization project on recent Chinese energy history, and he’s currently a Summer Institute of Social Research Methods fellow, where he is applying GIS and spatial analysis to a project on coal miners’ health during the British industrial revolution. James is interested in applying his background in the physical and social sciences to environmental and quantitative historical research. In his spare time, he likes to hike, jog, and read magazines.
